In the late Summer of 2016 we began shooting for a project that has been heavy on our minds.  We have been fortunate to watch the bike scene grow and evolve in Duluth, Minnesota rapidly in the past few years.  A lot of moving parts are involved in the process of building an extensive trail network.  Deeper than that, there are a lot of people involved.  We looked at that as an opportunity to tell the story of the Duluth mountain bike scene through six distinct riders.  This has been our most ambitious passion project. Growing into documentary filmmakers is a big goal for us and we felt this was the best way to start!

This was probably the most interesting interview setup we have accomplished, rolling down a dirt road interviewing a rider.

As commercial filmmakers, we are incredibly fortunate to make a living behind a camera.  For us, this was a project that brought us back to our roots in filmmaking.  No agenda, no shiny marketing spin, just us in the woods, on trails we love with cameras and great people!

We set an aggressive timeline to complete the first draft for an event held at Bent Paddle in early December.  On that snowy and cold night, we were reminded of the impact that the growing bike scene is having on Duluth.

Going forward our goal is to refine the documentary and gun for a few film festivals in 2017 and online streaming!

In the meantime, enjoy the trailer and crummy iPhone pictures of the progress. More details can be seen here www.trailcityfilm.com

We want to thank everyone involved in the project so far! It may be a passion project for us but the story and goals for Trail City are much bigger and we are so grateful for those who are helping to shape it!
